  ■□ Background and Objective
In 2008, the 4th TICAD (from 28 to 30 May, Yokohama) and the G8 Summit will be held in Japan. This gives a great opportunity for those who work in/with Africa to mobilise both international and Japanese attention toward African Issues.

Putting the African Civil Society in the centre of the whole process is crucial.

This workshop aims to bring African, International and Japanese civil society organisations together to discuss how to create effective partnership in order to achieve pro-poor policy for Africa towards 2008.

Thus, the workshop is to:
(1) review policy proposal and agreement before/during 2007 G8;
(2) share voices of African Civil Society Organisations (CSOs);
(3) share the experiences of German Civil Society regarding 2007 G8 (lessons to be learned);

What is Civic Commission for Africa (C-CfA)?
“Civic Commission for Africa (C-CfA)” is a body created for bringing the voices of African Civil Society to the international arena to be created in Japan in 2008, in order to facilitate the advocacy efforts of the African Civil Society vis-à-vis the international community for realising “pro-poor, pro-civic centered development”.
It is composed of 17 organisations representing 17 countries and 4 organisations representing Women, PLWHA and Farmers (South-East Africa & North-West Africa) on April 1, 2007. For the details, please take a look at the blog. (under construction)

What is TICAD Civil Society Forum (TCSF) ?
It was established as a non-profit organisation in 2004, with a main mission of delivering voices of civil societies and the grass-roots people in Africa to Japanese policy makers and citizens in the world.
TCSF aims to contribute to the improvement of the livelihoods of ordinary and poverty-stricken people in Africa.
TCSF has set its immediate goal as “to influence the TICAD IV and the G8 Summit”, both are scheduled to be held in Tokyo in 2008, in order to make these events more “Pro-Poor” and “People-Centered”.
