Introduction of the TCSF White Paper 2005 (1st Issue)

“Evaluation by Civil Society on Japan’s Policy to the African Countries”

- Overcoming of Poverty and Inequality -

The members of the African Diplomatic Corps are hereby cordially invited to attend an open TCSF presentation to introduce the 1st issue of the TCSF White Paper, entitled “Evaluation by Civil Society on Japan’s Policy to the African Countries – Overcoming of Poverty and Inequality –,” which will take place on Sunday, December 11, at 1:30pm, at the Meiji-gakuin University.

The TICAD Civil Society Forum (TCSF) was established in June, 2004 in order to contribute to the achievement of effective and equal development by and for African people through improving Japan’s aid policies and systems. TCSF has provided an opportunity to exchange views among various people who are interested in Japan’s policies and achievements of the African development. At the same time, TCSF has reviewed Japan’s aid policies while developing a network of civil society organizations not only in Japan but also in African and Asian countries. Through these activities, TCSF proposed and will propose recommendations in favor of more public-oriented Japanese policies to African affairs.

As one of the main activities to achieve the above objective, TCSF prepares a White Paper to evaluate Japan’s policy to the African countries from the viewpoints of the civil society both in Japan and in African countries. The 1st issue, entitled “Overcoming Poverty and Inequality,” will be published in the end of this year. The White Paper includes the results of the evaluation done by the African NGOs. Enda graf sahel in Senegal and Aciton Aid in Kenya joined the 1st issue. In this forthcoming presentation, we will invite the chairperson of Enda graf sahel, Mr. Mamadou, and concerned persons from the organization related to Japan’s policy to the African countries.

It will be much appreciated if the interested members of the African Diplomatic Corps would send their intention by filling out and faxing or e-mailing the reply-sheet attached hereto.

It is hoped that this invitation will be honored by active interest and acceptance.

Sincerely yours,
TICAD Civil Society Forum (TCSF)
President Minoru Obayashi
